Social Security claimsThere are two programs of the Social Security Administration providing benefits for disability. The first is Social Security disability and the second is supplemental security income. Social Security disability provides for payment of disability benefits to individuals who are "insured" under the Social Security Act by virtue of their contributions to the Social Security trust fund through the Social Security tax on their earnings, as well as to certain disabled dependents of insured individuals. Supplemental security income is a benefit available to individuals (including children under age 18) who are disabled and have limited income and resources. The issues in Social Security disability and supplemental security income can be very complex. You should consult Jose Gonzalez prior to filing to discuss your claim or if you need to appeal an adverse determination. |
